A group of friends and I worked together on this swap of numbers to create this beautiful advent calendar. I am so happy with how it came out! I love seeing all my friends in each number that they worked so hard on! Thanks girls! This was a terrific project!

MY FLOWER PINCUSHION

I made and designed this pincushion. It is made of wool. It took a while to figure out the exact way of doing it to give the effect I wanted....
I am happy with how it came out...thinking of selling the pattern....The flower center is where the pins go, hard to see them because they look like beads...

ART BRA ENTRY

I recently made this Bra for a Breast Cancer Charity Auction. It's called "sea cup' and depicted one of my favorite things, the ocean.

I received afirst place ribbon and it was auctioned live. My boss Patti won the auction.

PASSION FLOWER BLOOM

I wanted to share with you this beautiful bloom in my passion flower plant.

In Uruguay and Brasil we call it Mburucuya.

Here are some interesting facts!

In the 15th and 16th centuries, Spanish Christian missionaries adopted the unique physical structures of this plant, particularly the numbers of its various flower parts, as symbols of the last days of Jesus Christ and especially the Crucifixion:
The pointed tips of the leaves were taken to represent the Holy Lance.
The tendrils represent the whips used in the Flagellation of Christ.

The ten petals and sepals represent the ten faithful apostles (less St. Peter the denier and Judas Iscariot the betrayer).
The flower's radial filaments, which can number more than a hundred and vary from flower to flower, represent the Crown of Thorns.
The chalice-shaped ovary with its receptacle represents a hammer or the Holy Grail
The 3 stigmata represent the 3 nails and the 5 anthers below them the 5 wounds (four by the nails and one by the lance).
The blue and white colors of many species' flowers represent Heaven and Purity.

ZENTANGLES

In one of my online trading groups we are making Zentangle ornaments. I had no idea of what they were....
However, after checking out the website, I apparently been zentangling ALL MY LIFE!
I call it doodling...but I guess it may have a different meaning? I always get comments from people at meetings when they notice that I do that the whole time. Well, it all depends how interesting the bla, bla, bla is!lol
Do you want to zentangle?

NIGHT BLOOMING CEREUS

Several years ago my friends Paul and Stacie gave me one leaf that was to be eventually a beautiful night blooming cereus...I took some patience but eventually it did bloom...this plant blooms once a year ( at least for me, without greenhouse conditions) and each bloom starts to bloom at dusk and will fully open within hours as you witness it until it is fully open. By morning the flower is closed and done for the year. The full size of the blooms was about 8 inches. The fragrance unlike any other...I wish you could come and sit on my porche and witness it...until then, I am sharing some pictures....Isn't it incredible?

TAPITAS!

While visiting Berlin, Ohio my Mom remembered how she used to make this years and years ago. It so happened that I had seen a trivet made with this technique, in the same place, across the street from where my mother remembered having done this. When I got home, I had a message from Sara (the fabric of meditation)showing me this exact project she was woking on, and it challenged me to do it!

this is very addicting!Try it!

The beauty around us

Sometimes it's easy to get distracted with life in general and forget to see what's around us ...for me much of it makes me think of how wonderful life is...and it's also a great source of inspiration. The insect you probably will not recognize is called in spanish (guitarrero) or guitar man...for it makes a sound reminiscent of a guitar....my sister Daniela sent me this picture...It is a a great memory of our childhood in Uruguay....the rest are around my yard....

Enjoy....

Leilani & me

One highlight of my trip to Chicago was being able to meet Leilani! We met, did not have enough time to talk as we would have liked....I knew that would happen!

With her besides bringging me a lovely Leilani lollipop (I will post later) she brought a suitcase of all the beautiful things made by all fellow artsists in a group we belong to. Seeing and touching all of those was like having everyone with me...

A fantastic meeting, an unforgettable night!
